The new X Factor musical I CAN'T SING! has confirmed some of its principle cast members ahead of its world premiere at the London Palladium on 27 February 2013.

Mr. Nasty himself, Simon Cowell, will be played by Olivier Award winner Nigel Harman. Cowell told the Daily Mail, “The hardest thing was: how do you find someone who's good-looking, talented and can look like me? And then we found Nigel!”

Harman won an Olivier for his performance as Lord Farquaad in the West End production of Shrek The Musical. His theatre credits include Michael Grandage's Guys and Doll revival, the original cast of Mamma Mia!, Tommy, The Common Pursuit, Three Days of Rain, Public Property and most recently, A Chorus of Disapproval. On television he is best known for his role on EastEnders, as well as Hotel Babylon. He will appear in the upcoming season of Downton Abbey and Mount Pleasant on Sky 1.

Cynthia Erivo (currently starring in the Menier Chocolate Factory's revival of The Color Purple until 14 September 2013) and Alan Morrissey will play lovestruck hopefuls Chenice and Max. Erivo's theatre credits include the UK tour of Sister Act and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.

Having played Romeo in the 2008 production of Romeo And Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe, Alan Morrissey's stage credits include Solstice (Royal Shakespeare Company) and Much Ado About Nothing (Salisbury Playhouse). He made his film debut in the League of Gentleman: Apocalypse, and played Nicky Van Barr on Holby City from 2009 until 2010.

I CAN'T SING! "goes behind the microphone and under the judges' desk to reveal the (not necessarily accurate) story of heartache and laughter that keeps millions tuning in every week." Directed by Olivier Award winner Sean Foley (The Ladykillers, Jeeves & Wooster in ‘Perfect Nonsense’, The Play What I Wrote, What The Butler Saw), the show boasts 19 new songs with music and lyrics from Steve Brown, with book and lyrics by three-time BAFTA winner Harry Hill.
