Tickets for Sir Tim Rice’s brand new musical FROM HERE TO ETERNITY went on sale Friday 5 April. The show will preview at the West End’s Shaftesbury Theatre from 30 September, with press night 23 October.

Based on one of the greatest novels of the 20th century, FROM HERE TO ETERNITY features lyrics by Tim Rice, music by Stuart Brayson and book by Bill Oakes. This gripping tale of illicit love and army life marks Rice’s first new stage musical in 10 years, and Brayson’s West End debut.

Casting is yet to be announced, but the creative team boasts some of the most impressive names in the world of theatre. The production will be directed by Tamara Harvey (Educating Rita, Menier Chocolate Factory; The Kitchen Sink, Bush Theatre), designed by Soutra Gilmour (Macbeth, Trafalgar Studios; Antigone, National Theatre) and choreographed by Javier De Frutos (London Road, National Theatre; The Most Incredible Thing, Sadlers Wells). Bruno Poet (Frankenstein, National Theatre) is responsible for lighting design with sound design by Mick Potter (Phantom of the Opera). David White (Les Miserables) is orchestrator and musical supervisor.

FROM HERE TO ETERNITY was first published in 1951 and was author James Jones’ debut novel, for which he won the National Book Award for fiction. The novel is loosely based on Jones’ own personal experiences in the Hawaiian Division’s 27th Infantry unit pre-World War II. The iconic 1953 film of the same name, starring Burt Lancaster, Frank Sinatra, Montgomery Clift, Ernest Borgnine, Deborah Kerr and Donna Reed, won eight Academy Awards.
