THE LADYKILLERS makes its highly anticipated return to the West End this June 2013! The celebrated Ealing comedy begins previews from 29 June 2013, with press night 9 July, at London's Vaudeville Theatre.
In this classic black comedy, sweet, eccentric Mrs. Wilberforce unwittingly rents rooms in her house to Professor Marcus and his gang who are posing as amateur musicians. When Marcus involves her in his brilliantly conceived heist, the police are left stumped. But Mrs. W, who’s all alone except for her parrot General Gordon, becomes wise to their ruse, and Marcus decides there's only one way to keep the old lady quiet.

Considered a classic comedy, THE LADYKILLERS original film was made by Ealing Studios in 1955. It starred Alec Guinness (as Professor Marcus), Peter Sellers, Cecil Parker, Herbet Lom, Danny Green, and Jack Warner. For her performance as Mrs. W, Katie Johnson won the BAFTA for Best Actress. The film also won the BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay.
A 2004 remake by the Coen brothers was adapted to the American south and starred Tom Hanks. A 2011 production of THE LADYKILLERS broke records at the West End's Gielgud Theatre and was nominated for five Olivier Awards.
The laugh-out-loud adaptation by Graham Linehan (Father Ted, The IT Crowd, Black Books) of William Rose's screenplay will be directed by Sean Foley.
