Regent's Park Open Air Theatre announces 2017 season

    The Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has announced the four productions that will make up its 2017 season.
    Featuring an incredible score by Leonard Bernstein, On The Town launches the season on 19 May, running until 1 July. Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie will direct and choreograph the Open Air Theatre's biggest dance musical yet. With book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, based on a concept by Jerome Robbins.
    Open Air Theatre Artistic Director Timothy Sheader will direct A Tale of Two Cities from 7 July to 5 August, in a new play by Matthew Dunster adapted from Charles Dickens’ novel.
    Another Dickens classic, Oliver Twist, created for everyone aged six and over, will run from 17 July to 5 August. EastEnders writer Anya Reiss has adapted the gripping original for families, directed by Caroline Byrne.
    Following sensational critical and popular acclaim, Jesus Christ Superstar, which returns to conclude the season from 11 August to 16 September. Also featuring choreography by McOnie, Jesus Christ Superstar recently won the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the 2016 Evening Standard Theatre Awards. Featuring lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
